Just wanted to thank all the members who came to our Field Day to help with setup and the turn out that we had. We made a load of contacts and had a great time doing so. Food was good and the weather did cooperate with us. The general consensus is can’t wait for the next one. Just want to say thanks again in making our 2018 Field Day a Success. – Rich
Bruce KD4EXN sent a note of thanks “for one of the best Field Days I have ever been to” and specifically thanked Gail for the wonderful food.
Bob N2OCH echoed that sentiment with “I had a GREAT time at field day. The FOOD was GREAT.”
In addition to mentions on the great time and food, Sean KC2LWX “was very impressed with the crew working together to get things setup in order to play ham radio. That is what ham radio is all about, teamwork. Suffolk County Radio Club is not just a club but a family.” and sent special thanks to Bill KD2COL, Tim AC2GD for calling in, Jay KD2PKA and his son William as well as Jeff N2OEP. Sean went on to say: “I know it’s very difficult to take time out of our busy schedules to play radio, but it was very cool to get together, decompress and play radio with a bunch of characters that make you laugh, great conversations and share ideas. One of the highlights for me was to see the excitement for a first time field day operator to get excited when he made the first contact. (Catch the fever) Guy K2HOT – well done.” We got the chance to try out some homebrew antennas, thanks to Ken KD2DZZ for stopping by with his antenna analyzer and with the help of Rich KD2NJA, Vince KC2WPP and Neil KX9R we got the antennas tuned and we were on the air making contacts. Bob N2OCH, and Bruce KD4EXN got to play on 20 meters with Bobs new FT991 that he purchased from hamvention. Wow what a radio. Guy K2HOT and myself got to work 40 meters making contacts and having a blast.
