The September meeting was held at Grace Lutheran Church at 240 Mastic Rd. Mastic Beach on Sep 21, 2021. The Board meeting started at 7pm and the General meeting followed at 8pm. As usual, the meeting was open to the public and was well attended.
Many topics were discussed including upcoming events like the Suffolk County Marathon Oct 24. If you are interested in helping out on the route to provide radio coverage and are a licensed amateur radio operator contact John, W2HCB of Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club or get in touch with one of our board members. Upcoming builds include another Allstar node build with Pres and a low budget antenna build. Priorities were discussed including finishing the club trailer, please coordinate with Rich, KD2NJA or Ed, N2XDD to arrange a time to help out.
Pres, W2PW gave an interesting presentation on the basics of how a repeater functions, the components involved, and how repeaters are configured and operated. He brought a sample duplexer, a control board and a URI interface device for show and tell. These components were for a 440MHz repeater and were, smaller and less expensive than a VHF system would be.
