On Sunday July 14, 2024 the Suffolk County Radio Club along with the Town of Brookhaven ARES group mustered up at South Country Ambulance, 420 Station Road, Bellport NY at 1430 hours for assignments and in person briefings. The event went smoothly with radio traffic passing between Net Control and Race Posts fluidly. It was hot and humid but the men and women of SCRC and BARES rose above the stifling weather conditions to answer the call of public service with a plethora of communications gear in operation and even more on stand by in the event augmentation was needed. The group exuded confidence and professionalism in such an extreme manor that it was noticed and commended by the organizations they were supporting.

Going forward, we will learn from our experience yesterday, and strive to do an even better job at upcoming events, as we hone our skills and train to support our community with an excellent emergency communications capability.
