The Suffolk County Radio Club is leveling up! We’re launching a dedicated New Tech Night to explore the technical frontiers of amateur radio. This isn’t just about talking on the air; it’s about understanding the gear, the code, and the physics that make it all happen.
🗓️ The Big Kick-Off
- When: Friday, March 6, 2026
- Time: ————7PM————–
- Where: Longwood Youth Center, Yaphank, NY

Tech Night is now a permanent fixture! Join us on the 1st Friday of every month for a deep dive into the “nuts and bolts” of the hobby.

We’re calling all makers, hackers, and builders. If you like to take things apart to see how they work, this is your tribe.
- Linux & Open Source: From setting up Raspberry Pi nodes to mastering the command line for radio utilities.
- Digital Signal Processing: Using computers to pull signals out of the noise.
- Project Troubleshooting: Bring that stubborn kit, soldered board, or bricked radio—we’ll look at it together.
- Modern Modes: Deep dives into FT8, Winlink, DMR, and software-defined radio (SDR).
- Mentorship: Learn from seasoned Elmers in a relaxed, hands-on environment.
🐧 Why Fridays?
We know the 4th Monday is for club business. The 1st Friday is for the tinkerers! It’s the perfect way to kick off your weekend with some high-gain inspiration and some “root” access to new skills.
We look forward to seeing the “Technical Excellence” of Suffolk County out in full force.
